I never said 'Late Late' was rubbish -- Miriam

A twitter account belonging to the Prime Time presenter Miriam O'Callaghan described Friday night's Late Late Show as "complete and utter rubbish".

However last night a furious O'Callaghan yesterday blamed computer hackers for the tweet.

The comments on the Prime Time presenter's personal account read: "Okay we're all agreed that tonight's Late Late Show is complete and utter rubbish."

The show hosted by Ryan Tubridy included the long-awaited interview with presidential hopeful Senator David Norris. However, O'Callaghan, whose husband Steve Carson is the director of television at RTE, has denied any responsibility for the offensive posting against Tubridy and claimed her account was 'hacked' into, while she was at a party.

Only minutes after the eyebrow raising post the chat show host tweeted: "I am not on Twitter tonight but if someone has retweeted something its not me -- as I am at my precious Mum's birthday dinner. Not me -- hacked!"

Last night the glamorous presenter said: "I was at a dinner for my mum's birthday and I wasn't anywhere near my phone. I wasn't drinking as I had to speak at a ball the following night.

"I'm the mother of eight children, I'm not some drunk. They call me 'the drip' in my family because I rarely touch a drop so any suggestion that I was drinking and tweeted is absolutely outrageous. Anyone who knows me knows full well I would never ever have posted that."

She added: "That re-tweet had absolutely nothing to do with me or anybody at my mum's small sit-down family birthday dinner.

"None of my siblings or my mum or my in-laws or my husband are on Twitter so it had nothing to do with them at all. It was a totally random hacker.

"The first I knew about it was when someone called me and told me about this bizarre re-tweet -- I immediately went on to my Twitter account to obviously say it wasn't me. Anyone who knows me would have known that anyway. Someone hacked my account clearly and re-tweeted it so I also immediately changed my password there and then."

She continued: "My password was one of my children's names so it's not that difficult to get into unfortunately. It's scary when something like that happens but I realise hacking happens sometimes so that's just life."

The RTE star also said the controversy would not deter her from staying on the social networking site: "I love Twitter -- it's fantastic in so many ways. I won't be giving it up."

However, the post has caused "outrage" among the show's staff, according to RTE insiders with one saying it was "disgusting" that she continued to leave the comments up late on Saturday evening.

"It's absolutely disgusting," said a source. "Why has she left it up? Surely she would take it down?"

But, speaking to the Sunday Independent, the star said she was not deleting the comments because she wanted to source the hacker.

"I've spoken to my solicitor about the matter and it is actually protocol to leave a comment up when your account has been hacked so that they can source the hacker.

"This is a very serious matter, it was obviously someone very mischievous who did this and I want them to find whoever is behind it, which is the reason I haven't deleted it."
