Dublin man convincted of Slashing Mans throat

A south Dublin man has been convicted of slashing his best friend's throat and cutting his jugular in a row over a pint.

Luke Walsh was found guilty by a jury after a three-day trial during which he claimed he could not remember the majority of the incident, but claimed the victim attacked him first.

The jury at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court took under two hours to convict him.

Walsh of Broadfield Drive, Ballinteer had pleaded not guilty to assault causing harm to Mr Colin Doyle at the Rockfield Lounge, Dundrum on March 5, 2009.

Judge Joseph Matthews remanded Walsh on continuing bail until a sentence date in December and ordered a probation report be prepared
