Home helps attached to the trade union SIPTU will march through Cork city centre later to show their opposition to their jobs being outsourced by the HSE.
SIPTU claims the Health Service Executive has cut budgets to home help services and has recently invited private companies to tender for home help contracts.
The trade union is planning another march in Dublin next week before a Labour Court hearing on the matter in two weeks' time.
SIPTU Health Division Organiser Paul Bell said home helps were finding their hours being "slowly cut down to next to nothing".
"Some members who would traditionally have been on 15 to 22 hours per week are now finding, in the most extreme cases, that they are reduced to one hour a week, or two hours per week," he said.
" We have contracts of employment which guarantee a certain number of hours, and they're not being honoured."
