President calls for young people's vision

President Michael D Higgins is inviting young Irish people, at home and abroad, to outline their vision for Ireland.

The President said he is seeking to involve young people in a national discussion about the kind of country we have, what form of republic we want to create and how it can be achieved.

Young Irish people aged 17 to 26 are invited to take part.

President Higgins says submissions, made to www.president.ie, can take the form of narrative, song, poetry, video or audio recordings

A seminar will be held later in this year at Áras an Uachtaráin after which a final Being Young and Irish report will be published and presented to the appropriate authorities and agencies.

Closing date for submissions is September 29
