Woman accused of making hoax bomb call to Dublin 4 hotel

A 22-year-old woman has been accused of making a hoax call to gardaí claiming a bomb had been planted in a Dublin 4 hotel.

Sinead King of Tyrconnell Road, Dublin was charged with making a false report causing apprehension for safety of people, at the Mespil Hotel, on the city's southside on January 1, 2011.

Outlining the evidence, Garda Amy Brennan told Judge Cormac Dunne that a phone call had been received “stating there was a bomb in the hotel”.

As a result of the report, gardaícarried out a search at the D.4 hotel which did not need to be evacuated, Dublin District Court was told.

Judge Dunne accepted jurisdiction to deal with the case at district court level after noting that the hotel did not have to be cleared.

He ordered the prosecution to hand over copies of their evidence to the defence and remanded Ms King on bail to appear again on July 6 next when she is to enter a plea to the charge
