Gardaí appeal for information after armed raid on Cavan bank

Gardaí are appealing for information following a bank robbery in Co Cavan.

An armed gang are still on the loose after they stole a substantial amount of cash from Bank of Ireland in Kingscourt yesterday evening.

No arrests have yet been made.

Shortly before 5pm, a number of men entered the bank and held up staff with a handgun. No shots were fired and no one was harmed. 

The gang of at least six made off with a substantial amount of cash in a waiting car, which was set alight a short distance away.

The men then escaped in a second car in the direction of Bailieboro. 

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in recent days, in the vicinity of Main Street in Kingscourt to contact Bailieboro garda station 042-9694570 or any garda station
